Conforming to the popular perception of government schools, a number of our partner institutions were found lacking in basic amenities like water, toilets, boundary walls, electricity connection etc. Though not directly impacting learning outcomes, they are indispensable for creating an environment for learning and growth.In the backdrop of these roadblocks, icareIndia made gradual and consistent efforts to address the said deficit. With the help of district administration and generous CSR collaborations, schools have become much more hospitable allowing children as well as the teachers to focus more on their primary responsibilities.A number of schools functioned without electricity, and fans, in summer. However, because of the efforts of icareIndia, a lot of those schools now have power connections and fans making the summers a little more bearable. One of the main problems of most government elementary schools is that children are forced to sit on mats, which are ergonomically incompatible with reading and writing. We arranged for benches in some schools with CSR collaboration and children do not have to sit on the ground anymore. Quite noticeably, there were smiling faces all around and was welcomed by parents as well.
